Ella Rose Bowen Piercy
Arts Northern Rivers
My name is Ella Bowen, I am an 18 year old creative writer from the Byron shire.
Growing up I almost constantly had a book in my hand, every spare minute was spent reading and my love for books quickly grew into a love for writing.
Through my love of creative writing I have always used the opportunity to explore a diverse range of themes, things that are not often talked about or explored.
Themes such as love, obsession, passion, stereotypes and the human mind. questioning these themes and trying to bring a unique perspective to my works.
I pull inspiration from a wide range of sources, my past experiences and vivid dreams often create a basis for a story and my current interests or the world around me help to build the idea into a finished project.
I have continued to pursue this passion as often as I can and hope to someday make a career out of it.

Artist Statement
“How can I compose a story that captures the complexity and contrasting views of femininity in literature and film?” this was the question that drove the creation of this story.
My profound curiosity about the human mind—how our thoughts, feelings, and behaviours are shaped—has been a significant influence on my writing.
When given the opportunity to delve into the darker aspects of the psyche through a short story, I critically examined themes such as “cult mentality,” feminine representation, and the paradox of desiring both conformity and witnessing others’ suffering. This journey involved immersing myself in the horror genre, capturing its suspenseful and gory elements to engage women through a familiar exploration of female-female conflict. I aim to resonate with both girls and women, while also offering a cautionary perspective to men who perpetuate notions of feminine weakness. prompting reflection on relationships, individuality, and the dangers of sacrificing authenticity for external validation.
