Artist Statement

My Chicago Monologue was part of my drama HSC performance work which happened during the time of the horizons course, my mentor for my group Kate helped me with my projection with my monologue and thinking of the goals of the character I was playing that would project how they acted in the scene.
I used mostly verbatim from the original play script but added a couple bits of my own, I wanted to tell the story of Chicago through my portrayal of Roxie Hart.
My visual arts HSC major work watercolour painting which was also made during the time of the horizons course, I painted the Ladies Baths in Coogee using acrylic paint and water colour paint, I used white acrylic paint to create texture on the waves and layering of watercolour paint to create depth in my painting.
I wanted to paint the Coogee Ladies Baths because my full idea for my major work was female connection and sisterhood, these baths are women only places which goes into my whole idea of femininity and sisterhood.
The baths also are a beautiful place to visit and see as the baths show a landscape look of the surrounding Coogee beach and it’s just a nice and stunning place to see and be at, I do recommend visiting the Ladies Baths in Coogee, there was a strong feeling of connection and comfort in the secluded baths.
