Tilda Morse
Arts North West
I am Tilda! I have been dancing ever since I can remember, and started formal lessons in Moree NSW when I was 3 years old. Throughout my 14 years of dance I have been fortunate enough to take instruction from some incredibly inspirational teachers and mentors both face to face and via Zoom. Living regionally has meant that most school holidays we’re travelling to a capital city to attend a dance workshop or two, eisteddfod or an audition and I am forever grateful to my family for their dedication to my commitment to dance. Over the later years my genres of choice have narrowed to contemporary and classical ballet. Even though they are very different forms of dance, they go hand in hand, perfecting your technique in classical ballet assists your control and the overall performance of contemporary dance. I enjoy choreographing for myself and others. I take inspiration from pieces of music I resonate with and love to work with individuals who come to me with an idea of what they want to include in their work. I also love acting and performing in musical theatre and designing and making costumes for the stage.

Artist Statement
The video I have submitted is of me performing at the Brisbane Internationa Contemporary Dance (BICD) Prix this year. It was my first time ever competing in a strictly contemporary competition. It was an incredible experience that pushed me out of my comfort zone and helped me grow as a dancer.
There was a week-long workshop full of a variety of different contemporary teachers each with their own style. Through this experience, I discovered how much I enjoy contemporary dance. It allowed me to broaden my dance knowledge and I am more motivated to pursue this as my career than I ever was before. The piece I performed in this video was choreographed by Jason Mabana, his choreography challenged me to push my limits and learn new techniques. One of the most exciting parts of the experience was creating and performing my own choreography. This opportunity gave me the freedom to express myself for a wide audience.
