Ella Burns

Western Riverina Arts

At a young age, I figured out that acting was a passion of mine. The classes and performances I did gave me many experiences, one being an extra in a short film where a new interest sparked: filmmaking. Seeing the work being the scenes inspired me and I really wanted to get my hands on a camera. Soon after this experience, I was accepted into a Bachelor of Media and Communications and the Horizons program; where I would learn and experience so much in regards to this new interest. The past year has confirmed for me that this is definitely the industry I want to be in and as an artist I want to create work that is authentic and not only gets my ideas, opinions and voice across but other people’s as well who might not have that opportunity.

Artist Statement

These clips were taken for B-roll for a university assignment news story on musicians who are balancing study and performing. They were taken inside Charlie Jones’ [featured in clips] dorm room and I tried a range of different angles with the main one being the mid shot that captures him playing in his small room. I chose to do this to emphasise the story subject. This arrangement is my first rough shot at putting the clips together outside of the news story so the audio and flow doesn’t line up perfectly, but it was still fun to play around with. I had a play around with filters as well and put a darker one over the videos that I felt matched the vibe of the music being played.
