Orana Arts

I am a digital artist, living in the rural town of Coonabarabran. My art is shaped by the patterns I see around me. Living off grid, in the bush, I am constantly inspired by the layers of leaves that line the canopy. The depth created from strips of bark, that appear to melt in and out of the trees and the pops of colour from the wild flowers that grow. I use various editing programs to collage and layer photographs in order to form interesting patterns and shapes. Sometimes this process can form otherworldly feelings and places.
I also enjoy writing and I organise creative events on my property.
I believe everyone is an artist in their own right. This belief is why I love to support others and their creative sparks.

Artist Statement

These digital works capture the similarities and contrasts of the natural world amongst the city scape. The Horizons Project provided the unique opportunity to explore the big smoke of Sydney. I was fascinated by the contrast of living in the bush, to life in the city. I noticed the gritty nature of the city scape, the constant pace of those living there and the beauty of being surrounded by such massive buildings and their patterns. I noticed how the buildings reflected the world around them, similar to how nature reflects its immediate environment. I could see the city through the same lens I saw the bush. I noticed the fine, precise detail and the vibrancy of everything around me. Since that experience I have been excited to explore various artistic possibilities and places of expression.
