Threads of her Spirit, 2024 Acrylic on canvas
Artist Statement
‘Threads of Her Spirit’ is a visual representation of the unbreakable bond between generations of Indigenous women. This piece speaks to the wisdom, strength, and nurturing care passed down through time, from one woman to the next, each life a vital thread woven into the greater tapestry of our collective history and culture.
This piece holds a deeply personal significance for me, as I reflect on the women in my own life who have shaped me — particularly my mother, Robyn Lambe, and my grandmother, Norma Lambe. These women, whose strength, wisdom, and resilience I carry with me, continue to inspire me in ways I can hardly put into words. My mother’s presence and teachings remain with me every day, as does the love and guidance of my grandmother, whose spirit has not left me despite her passing. I miss them both deeply, and through “Threads of Her Spirit,” I honor them — the generations of women who came before me, and the generations that will come after.
