Artist Statement

Rusted and overgrown metal panels and odd parts belonging to a robot lay amongst the bushes, devoid of any movement, but not lacking soul. Threaded in the human likeness of inanimate objects and nature I create my works, simple household objects, or a strange once loved but now all but forgotten item on a stone path, spark inspiration for my artwork and designs. Even though the majority of my work is robotic in nature, I bring a personal depth through my own experiences rooted in the issues and intricacies of self worth and acceptance, primarily based on my own personal path of transitioning and day to day work in the world around us.

During the Horizons program I have finally put into motion a project I have been slowly developing for years, my very first comic! A sci-fi apocalyptic story of found family, with a dash of military and LGBT+ elements, and of course there’s robots.

Arren was mentored by multidisciplinary artist Scott Baker.
