Annelise Everingham

South West Arts

Annelise Everingham discovered a love for narratives at an early age, spending countless hours immersed in books, reading anything from the whimsical worlds of Enid Blyton to the back of a cereal packet. This passion for storytelling evolved into a fascination with capturing moments, leading to an exploration of photography. Through the lens, Annelise finds beauty in the often-overlooked details of life—the golden hues of a sunset, the delicate elegance of raindrops on a spiderweb, or the unspoken connection in a fleeting glance between friends.

As this visual storytelling journey progressed, Annelise ventured into filmmaking, combining sound, movement, and imagery to bring stories to life in new, dynamic ways. Inspired by a diverse range of creators, from the evocative Instagram aesthetics of shotsbysophia and iphilgood to the cinematic mastery of Christopher Nolan and Greta Gerwig, Annelise strives to craft layered, heartfelt narratives that resonate deeply with audiences.

Today, Annelise continues to explore the art of storytelling, blending mediums and perspectives to share the beauty of life’s little moments while always seeking new ways to connect and inspire.

Artist Statement

My current project, Of Love and Leaves, is a short film that weaves the journey of a young couple falling in love with the changing seasons. Each stage of their relationship is mirrored by a season—spring for beginnings, summer for passion, autumn for transformation, and winter for reflection. The film serves as a scrapbook of memories, capturing moments that seemed ordinary but became defining in retrospect.

As someone who grew up with a love for romantic comedies, this project is both a tribute to the genre and a fresh exploration of its themes. Loosely inspired by One Day and 500 Days of Summer, Of Love and Leaves draws on fragmented storytelling to reflect the nature of memory and relationships.

Structuring the film into seasonal segments not only grounds the narrative but also allows me to experiment with diverse stylistic approaches. Each chapter features a unique visual and emotional tone, emphasizing how love evolves with time and context.

Through this project, I aim to celebrate the beauty of fleeting moments and the profound impact they leave behind, creating a piece that is both deeply personal and universally resonant.
